The Environment Manager (EM) will manage a team of 5 Glasgow and 3 Offshore resources who have skills in Unix, Sybase and Middle tier technologies as well as asset knowledge. They will take ownership for Reference Data environment design, delivery and the support services (both generic and bespoke) to the testing and development teams.
The role also has interfaces to other teams outside of Reference Data including infrastructure team, DBAs/SAs, external projects that are dependent on our technology
Technical Competencies:
Design
- Driving discussions around scope & design of environment provision for both scheduled releases and projects
- Review and engagement of relevant teams to agreed design - DBAs, SAs etc
- The person responsible for managing the EIS Environment team.
- The EM overseas all project activities as well as the management of the BAU envt support function.
- The EM manages the relationship with the stakeholders of projects and Scheduled Releases also.
- All aspects of team management and internal operations are owned by the EM
Delivery
- Ensuring early engagement into each project as discussions for project scope are being defined
- Defining the scope of the Environment provision and support services.
- Defining plan for delivery of new environments and putting the necessary controls around this
- Ensuring stakeholder engagement and regular progress governance throughout delivery
- Ownership of end-to-end delivery, managing risks throughout the design.
- Enforcing and monitoring change control process for environment changes and delivery schedules.
- Resource allocation based on BAU work, and other priority programmes.
- Provision of out of hours support, for key projects that require evening / weekend work
Support
- Managing the overall support services for the environments that support the scheduled releases.
- Designing bespoke support models for critical projects, based on the components involved and the support coverage required
- Managing the support service adherence to SLAs agreed with releases or projects.
- Managing overall team coverage with regards to people and hours
- Management of all processes in place to support the scheduled releases - configuration control, access control and problem management.
Resource Management
- Managing daily and weekly priorities for the team as demands change
- Overseeing lower-level environment delivery plans for each project and initiative
- Weekly project updates and global team catchups with all team members
- Allocation of BAU, scheduled release and project/initiative work across the team
Infrastructure Management
- Managing overall hardware infrastructure footprint that supports all dev and testing within EIS
- Capacity management of environment infrastructure
- Managing programmes of work to ensure hardware used is fit for purpose and aligned to production, and in-line with overall direction for the group
- Managing relationship with DBA and SA groups.

Responsible for the planning and prioritization of all demands and projects for JP Morgan house business across all exchange traded products. Working for and supporting a cross line of business Back Office model in EMEA, Asia & North America. The team supports reconciliation of front to back office futures and options across trade, position and P&L as well as back office Settlement and Clearing to Ledger reconciliation.
The role will be to ensure that both large and small software projects are delivered on target, on time and on budget. You will ensure that all software projects are properly requested, specified, scheduled, developed, tested and deployed according to company standards. You will also be responsible for documentation of the processes and management and scheduling of build resources.
Technical Competencies:
- Management of all projects and demands across the team feeding into overall program manager.
- Manages day to day individual workload, monitoring milestones and critical dates to identify potential jeopardy of schedule and identify / mitigate risk.

UNIX System Administrator - Associate - Based in Glasgow-100002007
As a UNIX System Administrator you will be responsible for the build, configuration, deployment and support of Sun hardware running Solaris OS's and VMWare Linux servers within the IM EMEA business lines. You will perform upgrades, patching cycles, performance monitoring, incident, problem and change management in line with corporate policies and procedures. Your workload is split between Project and BAU support, with the latter taking precedence. Excellent analysis and trouble-shooting skills are necessary in a challenging role that demands flexibility and commitment to service provision. The department operates a 24x7 support function and its members are expected to work beyond core hours when the situation warrants it and to provide on-call support on a rotational basis.
Technical Competencies:

- To monitor incoming incident and request tickets, manage assigned tickets and to resolve in a timely manner
- To complete requests by "commit date" as specified in SR or project resource request
